Library staff will be showcasing the collections underneath provide by the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art along with teaching materials and activity sheets!

The collection will be showcased at designated times and dates listed underneath starting on Wednesday, November 29th in the Youth Services Program Room on a first come first served basis.

Wednesday, November 29th at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Thursday, November 30th at 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. 

Saturday, December 2nd at 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Tuesday, December 5th at 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Wednesday, December 6th at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. 

Thursday, December 7th at 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The Quartz Collection: Quartz is the most common mineral in the world. It comprises over 75% of the Earth’s crust. This box heightens students’ awareness of the varieties of quartz. It shows the difference between common quartzite and gem quality agate, jasper, amethyst, and aventurine. Contains hands on specimens. Teaching and activity sheets will be handed out.

Fossils through Time Collection: Offers a visualization of geologic time with real fossils that existed throughout Earth history. It describes the processes necessary for fossil formation and preservation. Includes: hands-on specimens for identification. Teaching and activity sheets will be handed out.
