Event Details

An Annual Solar Eclipse is happening Saturday, October 14th! . Join us for an overview of why eclipses happen, and information on safe viewing. Participants will receive a pair of solar eclipse glasses and materials to make a glasses case to preserve the glasses for the next eclipse in 2024. After the informational session, participants can view the eclipse outside! The eclipse begins at 10:37am, reaches its maximum at 11:58pm and ends at 1:22pm.

This program are made possible by SEAL, the Space Science Institute, and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.

Important: An eclipse is a rare and striking phenomenon you won't want to miss, but you must carefully follow safety procedures! The only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters. By registering for these programs, you acknowledge that: 1) viewing the eclipse may expose you risk of injury; 2) your participation is voluntary and you knowingly and freely assume all risks; 3) you completely release any responsibility or liability of the Prairie Trails Library for any and all injuries or damages sustained while participating.
